On October 13, 2026, partners of the REMARKABLE (Rural Environmental Monitoring) project gathered at the Science and Technology Park in Novi Sad for a full day of presentations, discussions and joint planning.
The technical sessions highlighted the role of advanced sensing and IoT technologies in environmental monitoring. Partners presented their research on sensing and understanding coastal lagoon ecosystems, drone-assisted localization of IoT nodes in rural environments and spatial assessment of PM2.5 concentrations in Novi Sad using Land Use Regression and low-cost sensors. The program further included distributed photoacoustic sensing for ultra-wide-area forest monitoring and a city-wide rainfall measurement system based on cellular IoT communications. Together, these contributions demonstrate the breadth and complementarity of research within the REMARKABLE network, spanning coastal, rural, urban and forest environments.
As part of the program, our young colleague Lidija Đurđić presented the applications of AI in our solutions.
In the afternoon, partners reviewed overall project progress, including dissemination, communication and mobility activities. The day closed with a discussion on the sustainability of the REMARKABLE network and future joint proposals.
The meeting was a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge, strengthen collaboration and plan the next steps together. DunavNET thanks all partners for their contributions and productive discussions.
