Smart Cities – Data Shaping the Future

On the occasion of World Cities Day, October 31, 2025, Dejan Drajić will address one of the defining questions of our time – how technology is shaping the cities of the future.

By 2030, nearly 60% of the world’s population will reside in urban areas, and by 2050, that number is expected to rise to 70%. Climate change, population growth, and the demand for more efficient resource management call for smart responses – and smarter cities.

The lecture will explore how cities that measure, manage, and learn use data to make better decisions. From sensors and security systems to connected infrastructures – discover how technology is transforming the way we live and manage urban environments.

A special focus will be on the SENSE project, an initiative developing interoperable digital platforms for cities. Within the project, DunavNET provides the IoT and data backbone – connecting diverse sensors and city systems into a unified network of reliable, reusable data that powers the CitiVerse, a new digital layer of urban life.
