DNET Labs secondment at UDG

Within the TRACEWINDU project and planned secondments, Nemanja Mišić from the DNET Labs visited University of Donja Gorica in Montenegro in March 2022. The aim of the secondment was to become familiar with local wine production.

Visits to wineries and production facilities were organized in order to get to know the practice of growing vines and producing wine in Montenegro. The attention was on wineries that use digital solutions, IoT sensors and platforms for production optimization, because, through discussions it was concluded that these producers are the best starting point for the implementation of a transparent production chain.

The reason for getting acquainted with information about production practice is to understand the importance and the possibility of integrating production data in transparent supply chain using blockchain technology as well as which and how information needs to be presented to different stakeholders, while safety and securely tracking wine from vineyards to sale point using smart tags, QR codes, smart labels, and other technologies.

Producers who have implemented some form of digital technologies in order to improve production understand much better the importance of a transparent supply chain and are willing to bring their products closer to the consumer and other stakeholders in the supply chain through some form of product passport

Together with partners from the University of Donja Gorica, besides visiting wineries, initial work on scientific research paper in the form of systematic literature review is started. The paper analyzes the wine value chain from the perspective of analysis and determination of wine and the application of blockchain technology.
